Regency Boats

Launching a Luxury Category Leader

When Regency launched in 2015, the objective was to compete in the luxury pontoon market. Serving as the Brand Manager and Art Director, I architected a visual identity that moved the product away from traditional boating and toward high-end lifestyle hospitality. By creating a sophisticated brand ecosystem—from neutral color palettes to avant-garde photography—I led the creative strategy that transformed Regency from a new entrant into a recognized brand in the premium marine segment.

Challenge:

Gain immediate traction in the luxury segment without being dismissed as "just another pontoon." The challenge was to elevate the brand's perception to compete with luxury day-boats, speaking to a more sophisticated, affluent demographic.

Solution:

Develop a visual identity using warm, neutral tones and rich textures to signal "Royalty" and elegance. I positioned the boat as a vessel for social connection and elite leisure.

The inaugural year focused on establishing a foundational "Visual World" that set a new standard for the brand’s future.

  • Location Scouting: Shifted away from generic lake settings to urban, high-end environments to elevate the product's status.

  • Directorial Vision: Focused photography on "evening gatherings" and golden-hour lighting to highlight the boat's role in sophisticated social experiences.

  • System Foundation: Developed the core brand standards and templates to ensure a seamless, upscale look across all print and digital touchpoints.

In the second year, the brand identity evolved to feel more modern and daring while maintaining its luxury foundation.

  • Design Inspiration: Introduced an art deco aesthetic inspired by the light play of chandeliers and high-end wine labels, utilizing elevated textures.

  • Functional Storytelling: Transitioned from hero shots to "feature-in-use" storytelling, showing swim platforms and lounges as active stages for luxury living.
